I’ve been toying with the idea of getting an Asus eeepc for about a week or so now, but I am still not sure whether I should get one or not. From what I’ve seen I can get one for about £150.00 to £200.00 which is a great price.
The main thing I would use it for is note taking and web browsing in college so it doesn’t really matter what specifications it is. However one thing that’s confusing me is do I want Linux or XP on it, or can I just install xp on it if I get Linux. Another thing that’s confusing me is do I really want to spend £200ish on something that I am going to use a few times then its just going to sit there collecting dust.
Which again brings me back to the question, do I want xp or Linux?. Mainly because its going to directly effect what I can install on it.
Actually as I am writing this I’ve pretty much answered my own question but I still want to know what everyone thinks.

Where did the layer of dust come from?. Yeah I know it’s been awhile since I last posted on here. As you may or may not know, I’ve been incredibly busy of late, what with work towards my computing degree among other things. I’ve become incredibly addicted to Left 4 Dead.
Speaking of left 4 dead I am going to be starting some work on some custom maps soon, so look out for details on that and I’ll be pushing out some video tutorials on mapping for the game for modsonline.
Also the modsonair podcast, that I am a guest on is doing well, With over 216,582 live viewers a month. We are still broadcasting live every Sunday on stickam as well as releasing a video episode every Friday.
Anyway Merry Christmas and a happy new year (Bit Late I know but I won’t tell anyone if you don’t)

Well guess what, paypal have screwed me again.(Click here for that little adventure) This time however it’s over card validation. I recently got a new card, as my other one has expired, so paypal send me an email saying my card is out of date, so can i update it. So i hop on over to paypal and enter my new card details, Easy right?. Think again, a few days later paypal send me another email saying that they have locked my account (Again) Because i need to prove that the new card is mine. So, yet again i have to scan my passport and a letter that proves my address, which i just did. Thanks again paypal.
Update - Paypal have restored my account

Well if you didn’t hear on this weeks modsonair, I got a beta key for quake live. At first I couldn’t get it to work. It crashed my PC 3 times in a row, and by crash i mean “hit the reset switch” crash. Last night however I thought i would give it another shot and….it worked YAY. I’ve been playing today and its awesome. Its just like quake III Arena and just as fast paced but in your browser. It looks great (even for a browser game). There is a play in full screen option but i don’t recommend that as everything gets a bit blocky. You only have to download a small plug in and sign up for an account and your ready to go. There is also a kind of recommendation on each server that you click on, telling you how well matched you are to the players in there. As far as i can tell it “works out” how good you are by your kills, deaths, accuaracy etc. I’ve been playing it all day and i haven’t had a single second of lag. Nicely done Mr Carmack. Another great thing about this is its free (morphis) and that it runs in your browser, so it makes absolutely no differance what your running inside your pc. As long as you have an up to date version of flash that is. I’ve been playing it Firefox and it runs great, i haven’t had time to try it out in any other browser’s yet. Anyway Quake Live is looking and playing good. After my initial annoyances with this for not working, i have to say this is shaping up to be one hell of a game. I take it all back, ID Tech, You Rock.
